Final Rules for Wellness Programs

Employers considering adopting a wellness program for their employees will want to give consideration to new final rules announced in May by the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the IRS.  A wellness program is a program of health promotion or disease prevention which an employer might endorse in the hopes of improving employee health (and thus attendance) and, in turn, lowering health insurance claims.
