    • Prepared, reviewed and revised hundreds of oil and gas transactional documents including, purchase and sale agreements, construction and development contracts, rights of way, easements, surface-use agreements, and leases.
    • Drafted and reviewed engineering design-build contracts for large scale energy/utility/oil/gas based projects for a design engineering firm including emissions reduction facilities for a coal-fired electric generating facility, fracking facilities, drill sites and consortium agreements for the power generation division of an oil/gas engineer firm based in Texas.
    • Advised on subsurface land acquisitions involving tens of thousands of acres of land in the Utica shale region which included a chain of title review, curative recommendations, and litigation involving Dormant Mineral Act and other quiet title claims on behalf of major producers.
    • Managed and advised out-of-state land management companies on oil/gas chain of title review projects related to Utica shale rights.
    • Represented Texas-based oil/gas company in multiple litigation matters pertaining to bad lease acquisitions resulting in a multi-million dollar recovery/refund of purchase price proceeds.
    • Obtained favorable trial and appellate court decisions on behalf of national energy producers in multiple counties throughout Ohio, including the Fifth and Seventh District Courts of Appeals, in cases involving oil and gas leases, mineral title disputes, lease unitization, and well production issues.
    • Drafted several briefs including jurisdictional, appellate, and amicus briefs on issues of first impression involving the Ohio Dormant Mineral Act, Marketable Title Act, and other real property title-related issues in appellate litigation matters before the Supreme Court of Ohio.
    • Successfully represented energy companies in several cases involving lease forfeiture, abandonment, and breach of covenant claims brought by lessors.
    • Drafted and reviewed title abstracts, reports, and certified title opinions for national energy producers analyzing ownership of coal, oil and gas, and mineral rights throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia; assisted in the development of a best practices and procedures model for attorneys drafting title opinions or handling due diligence projects involving the leasing of oil and gas rights in Ohio.
    • Drafted and reviewed various title curative documents for oil and gas producers and mineral rights acquisition companies leasing and/or purchasing land; assisted in the management, procurement, and review of oil and gas leases and pipeline easements covering thousands of acres of real property located in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
    • Successfully resolved litigation pending in Texas relating to claims arising out of purchase and sale agreement for Utica Shale assets.
    • Advised E&P entity regarding insurance and indemnity obligations, rights, and responsibilities in Master Services Agreements.
